The Winghead Shark, Eusphyra blochii, is the sole member of its genus and is easily recognised by its exceptionally wide, wing-like cephalofoil, which may span nearly half the total body length. This unique morphology enhances electrosensory detection, manoeuvrability, and visual coverage in the shallow, often turbid coastal habitats it occupies. The species is slender-bodied with long, narrow pectoral fins, a moderately tall first dorsal fin, and low second dorsal and anal fins of similar height. Colouration is greyish-brown dorsally with a pale ventral surface, and juveniles may show faint dusky fin shading.
